How Much is That Doggie In the Window?

Hi Friends!  Wow, downtown Frederick is in bloom!  It is so beautiful.  Aaaaaachoo!  Sorry...allergies.  So glad to be out and exploring in Frederick this week.  There are a couple of new places on my list that I want to see in the next few weeks, and I just like to take in all the fabulousness of downtown Frederick.

Paws In The City, Frederick, Maryland.
On Wednesday, my first stop was Paws In The City.  Frederick dogs - and cats - and their humans will recognize this place by the outside, but inside, there's a whole new dog in town!  I met with Andy, who owns the shop with his wife.  Wow, what a difference they have made inside!  So open and light now, and the vibe and people are friendly and welcoming.   Andy's vision is to provide "An Urban Oasis for Pets".   He has a great layout of nutritious food and treats for dogs and cats, leashes and collars, beds, and toys.  But Andy is most excited about providing dogs with premium outdoor gear for when they take their humans rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, camping and other fun outside activities.  He is proud to be the new, exclusive shop for Ruff Wear in Western Maryland.  This is serious gear for serious outside enthusiasts.  You need to check this out!  Frederick dogs, bring your human and walk on over!  Tell Andy, I sent you his way!

Citizen Frederick, Downtown Frederick, Maryland.
See Skip in his window seat bed?

As I was strolling down East Patrick St. towards Market St. I passed a shop that I knew about, but had never been in before.  Of course I had to go in because of the doggie in the window!  Who could resist!  So in I went to see what Citizen Frederick was about and to meet that doggie in the window!  Antonio introduced me to his friend Skip - aka #SkipTheWonderdog.  Skip is a rescue from the Frederick shelter and Antonio says that he is the best friend he's ever had!  Awwwww, Antonio and Skip won my heart right then!

See him?  He's right there in the window!

When Skip is not cozy in his bed in the window, he greets customers, both canine and human.  Skip has doggie friends who come to visit and play - running around the shop.  Skip took me by the paw and showed me around the shop which features what I would call  elegant casual menswear.  Citizen Frederick's tag line is "Work Hard - Live Well" and men can certainly do that in Antonio's wares.  I am definitely bringing my husband here!  There is no other shop like this for men in Frederick.  Although I knew about Antonio's shop, I had no idea about his upstairs barbershop!  The barbershop offers, haircuts, hot towel shaves and beard trims.  And...there is beer!!  I'm bringing Husband (that's what I call him!) this weekend for a haircut and a beer.  The barber also provides haircuts for women.  I just may try her myself!  Stop in and pat Antonio and Skip on the head!  You'll be glad you did!

Was that a treat bag opening?!

Downtown Frederick is always a pleasantly bustling place and there are always lots of dogs walking their humans!  It is a feast for the eyes.  Come visit soon!

A Special Place in My Heart for Senior Dogs and Cats

Happy 2015 Critter Loving Friends!  The end of a year is always a whirlwind of activity, isn't it?  Although I am not a winter person at all, this part of winter is great for pausing, thinking, regrouping and setting forth plans.  So on days like today...rainy, cold, foggy...not fit for man nor beast, I do just that!  I've come up with lots of great places in Frederick to visit and write about on Downtown Dogs of Frederick!  I've also planned lots of great things for my pet photography business!  Oh, it's going to be a busy and fun year!  I hope you'll join all us four footed fur kid lovers and follow along!

The weather never seemed to cooperate with me recently when I had chances to enjoy Downtown Frederick.  The chances of spying someone accompanied by a beloved four legged friend who wasn't rushing to get an errand done, dodging raindrops, or just downright freezing was difficult!  There was a rare day when the temperature was 60 degrees and I came upon lovely, senior Labrador Retriever Miss Molly.  She and her human were coming out of Dublin Roasters Coffee on N. Market Street with a steaming cup of joe.

Miss Molly!
Isn't she beautiful!  Elderly animals capture my attention even more than pups and kittens.  They make me think that about life.  Life is so short for all of us.  When I am elderly, I hope I am as content with life and my own skin as elderly critters are.  Miss Molly gave me great joy the day I met her!  Just look at those eyes - they have seen a million tennis balls!  That grey muzzle!  She's earned it during her faithful days with her human - and wears it proudly!  Thank you for your short visit with me Miss Molly!  I'll share more photographs of elderly critters that I have met soon!

Miss Molly was a muse for me that day and inspired me to plan a very unique offer at my pet photography business - Little Pink Toes Pet Photography!  I hope you'll take advantage!

For the first quarter of 2015, I am offering a promotion:

"Part of Our Family and Our Heart"

I have a special place in my heart for elderly fur friends.  I just love that their face is so full of the life they have lived.  I love the soft eyes and the grey muzzle.  So, when you pay the session fee for a current session, I will give you a certificate, worth a full session fee, to be used in the future.  So when the unthinkable time comes, I will return gratis and photograph your treasured furry friend.  As part of this promotion, I will also extend my "Let's Sniff Around and Get to Know Each Other" offer of  40% off printed products resulting from our session.

In addition to introducing you to fabulous, labulous Miss Molly, and announcing a super first quarter promotion, I'd like to announce:

My New Website!

I have refreshed my portfolio to show you photographs from Fall 2014 photography sessions!  I am so excited about these new photographs!  I can't wait for you to see them!  Also, the website is cleaner and much easier to use!  Please visit and then let me know what you think!  And, if you like what you see, please share, share, share!  I sure would appreciate having other critter loving people on board!

They Were Everywhere! Downtown Dogs of Frederick - Presented by Little Pink Toes Pet Photography, Supports AWLFC

They were everywhere!

Big ones.
Huge ones.
Little ones.
Teeny tiny ones.
Hairy ones.
Shaved ones.
Slobbery ones.
Young ones.
Old ones.

The dogs of Frederick and their humans were out in force on Saturday to support the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County (AWLFC) raise funds for all the great work that they do.  The AWLFC is an all volunteer rescue group that serves our beautiful county and they held their annual Paws & Claws 5K fundraiser in Baker Park.  I love this rescue group and have adopted a few cats from them and volunteer for them.  As one of the ways that I support AWLFC,  I volunteered to take photographs of the event for AWLFC.  I tend to be click happy!  In other words, I take a lot of photographs!  Here is a link to the gallery on my Little Pink Toes Pet Photography website.  Scoot on over and check them out!  You are guaranteed to smile!  Here's a sample of the photographs:

If you would like a copy of a photograph without logos and with leashes and other distractions removed, please contact me. Please specify the file name. I can print any size photograph on any media - traditional photographic paper, framed and matted if you like; giclée on canvas and luminous prints on aluminum. I will donate 25% of my profit from sales from this event to the Animal Welfare League of Frederick County!

Downtown Dogs of Frederick - Presented by Little Pink Toes Pet Photography supports Lab Rescue Dog Walk!

Being an avid traveler and supporter of animals, occasionally I will have the opportunity to share dogs from other cities.  So here's a post about a great doggie day, even though it took place in Annapolis instead of Frederick.  Hope you enjoy!  What a great time I had on Saturday, June 14 the at the Lab Rescue Dog Walk fundraiser which was held at the Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, Maryland.  There were loads and loads of labs and their humans there for the annual walk.  $109,000+ was raised for this wonderful rescue group who helps labs in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC!  Last year they helped 1008 labs to find new, furrever homes!  Yes, you read correctly...One-thousand and eight labs! And what a beautiful day for a walk in the park.  It was in the low 80's with very low humidity and a wonderful breeze.  Even with the great weather, my water bowl and shade tent was a big hit with the older labs.  There was so much excitement and so my labs to sniff and get to know, that there were lots of pooped labs by the end of the afternoon!   I had a vendor booth to showcase my Little Pink Toes Pet Photography business as a sponsor for the walk and help raise funds for the labs.  I didn't reached my fundraising goal, but I did make a contribution  and look forward trying to reach my goal next year.  Thank you to my friends who generously donated to this wonderful dog rescue!  Here are a few of the beautiful Labradors that came my way during the walk.

First up is Miss Roxie.  She is a sweet lady of 12 and was the first to savor the shade of my tent after the walk.  Who can resist her beautiful face!  She brought her human Cindy Breese and her brother - see him next - for a fun afternoon in the park.  Thanks for posing so pretty Miss Roxie!  Smooch!

Miss Roxie (12)

Miss Roxie

As I said, Miss Roxie has a brother.  He is one and his name is Gnarly - or Sir Gnarls Barkley to the ones who know him best!  Check out his bad self!

Sir Gnarls Barkley!

A very nice human named Elizabeth was accompanying Mr. Seymour (11) that afternoon.  This gentleman was absolutely pooped!  We thought we might have to help Elizabeth carry him to his car!  After a little rest and some water, he was able to make the dash to the car with his mom.  Love you Mr. Seymour!

Mr. Seymour getting refreshed.

Miss Amber came along and stayed for a while.  She is a beautiful lady of 12!  She brought her human Sandie along for the dog walk.  We don't think Miss Amber looks 12 at all!  So ladylike and pretty!  Thanks for stopping by Miss Amber!

Miss Amber

As you know, this was a fundraiser for Labradors.  However, I met a dog who isn't a lab that I just had to show you.  Say hello to Miss Kelsy!  What a character she is!  I was initially caught by her beautiful blue eyes!  But the personality of this dog was what really grabbed me!  Miss Kelsy is an Australian Shepard and is shhhhhhhh...a lady of a certain age......12.  She wants to be - and certainly is - the center of attention.  She has a lot to say and makes sure you are paying attention!  So without further ado, I give you Miss Kelsy!  Bow down minions!

Her Highness, Miss Kelsy!
Miss Kelsey!  Real dogs don't have tails!

So, a fun afternoon was had by all and lots of money was raised for a great cause!  Maybe I'll see you there next year!  I'll leave you with some general photographs from the afternoon.  Woof!

Sampling from the water bowl.  What a face!

So serious!

Sad tennis ball left behind...
 See you next year!
